30 Years of Broadcast M.A.P.

It’s hard to believe that Broadcast MAP has been at the forefront of the media industry for 30 incredible years. What began in 1995, with a vision from our founder Stewart Lewis, has since evolved into a leading force in media software solutions across New Zealand and Australia.


Humble Beginnings

Our journey started with the development of our flagship product, TVmap. Stewart’s vision was clear: create world-class software to assist advertising agencies, advertisers, and television broadcasters in navigating the complexities of television media advertising.

TVmap quickly became a game-changer in the industry during our early years. Its innovative approach and user-friendly design made it an essential tool in the TV media advertising lifecycle, quickly gaining the support of New Zealand networks and agencies. Customer loyalty fuelled rapid adoption, and our unrivalled service has since established us as the industry standard.

Our focus on delivering exceptional solutions and staying ahead of industry trends has not only helped us grow but also earned us some incredible recognition. We were honoured to be named a finalist for Small Business of the Year and to win the Westpac New Zealand HiTech Excellence Award for Software Company of the Year.

Growth and Evolution

As our success grew, so did our vision. Our team expanded, gained multiple patents, and opened an office in Australia. But the evolution didn’t stop there. Over the years, we have continued to innovate new products and expand our product offering to meet the evolving needs of our customers.

Our journey includes significant milestones such as the development of AudioMAP, extending our reach into audio media beyond traditional TV, and the creation of the VOZ Gold Standard. Partnering with OzTAM, we adapted TVmap for Total TV measurement, providing a unified view of linear and BVOD audiences.

A New Era

In 2020, Broadcast MAP became part of the Volaris Group, a division of Constellation Software. The acquisition by Volaris, one of Canada's largest publicly listed technology companies, was a pivotal moment in our history as it provided us with the resources and support needed to accelerate improvement and further cement our position as a leader in media software.

In 2024, we took another bold step forward with the acquisition of AudioNET, Australia’s leading platform for audio dispatch, audio verification, and booking services. This strategic move enabled us to further expand our portfolio and strengthen our position as a one-stop shop for media buying, trading, and analysis.

While innovation in our products has always been the key to our growth, our greatest asset has always been our people. We are immensely proud of the long tenure of many of our employees, some of whom have been with us since the very beginning. Their dedication, enthusiasm, and expertise have played a crucial role in our development. We believe that creating and honing an environment where employees are encouraged to grow, experiment, and take on new challenges is essential for long-term success.

As we celebrate 30 years, we’re not just looking back at what we’ve achieved, but also looking forward to what’s still to come. The media world is always changing, and we’re excited to keep adapting and growing with it. We’ve got a talented team, a lot of ambition, and plenty of ideas for what’s next. The journey is far from over, and we’re ready to embrace the next 30 years (and beyond!).
